After School Care

Introduction

We aim to provide an environment in which the children can develop, learn, play and have fun. We try to ensure a home from home atmosphere.

About Us:

Home From Home is the place to be for children after school. When the school day is over, Home From Home begins with an after school care and enrichment program. Home From Home is designed for families that need the support and convenience of an after school schedule for their children at both Stoke Park Infant and Junior Schools.

Choose from a one, two, three, four or five day program offered Monday – Friday from the time your child finishes school or extra curricular club until 5:00 pm.

Home From Home is available on all school days, except for INSET days and occasional large events in the school calendar, such as fetes or polling days. We will always notify parents well in advance of any such closures.

Aims and Ethos:

The aim of Home From Home is to enable children to unwind, relax and have fun with their friends and peers in a safe environment that will help them feel good about themselves, to learn new skills and to provide opportunities for personal growth and development through play opportunities.

Our Ethos:

·        Provide a caring, nurturing and safe environment
·        Promote Good Self Esteem
·        Offer Opportunities to Explore New Interests
·        Offer age-appropriate programs
·        Promote fun and friendships
·        Create opportunities for socialising and sportsmanship

Provision:

Home From Home offers quality after school care for children from Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 and 2. Junior school children make their own way to Home From Home. Infant school children are collected from ‘Cosy Corner’ by a member of Home From Home staff.

Snacks:

A snack is provided each day at 4:30pm. A sample menu for a week of the Home From Home program:

·        Monday: Crackers and Cheese
·        Tuesday: String Cheese
·        Wednesday: Yogurt
·        Thursday: Cereal bar
·        Friday: Popcorn

There is also fruit on offer in addition to the above.
A choice of two flavours of squash is offered with the snack and water is available at all times.

Staff:

We have a staff/child ratio of 1-8, therefore have two staff per session and will have a 3rd if the numbers warrant it. We are all police checked and have relevant qualifications.

Our staff are carefully selected qualified playworkers for your child.

Only enthusiastic
individuals with a special combination of professional experience, education and a commitment to children are employed at Home From Home. Throughout the year, Home From Home staff take part in a variety of training to enhance their skills and provide new ideas to keep your child interested and involved.

Activities:

The activities we encourage throughout the week are outdoor games to include football, cricket and skipping. Indoor activities include arts and crafts, cooking, board games, puzzles and computer games. We also try to provide activities to fit in with relevant topics eg Chinese New Year.

Clothing:

As we provide messy and outdoor activities we try to encourage that children bring a change of clothes and trainers for outside.

Booking:
We ask that you book and pay for your childcare places half a term in advance.  You may, or course, book places at shorter notice but run the risk of there being no places available.

Charging:
Home from Home charges £6.00 for child care provision from 3.30pm - 5.00pm.
Siblings attending THE SAME sessions are charged at £4.50.

It is important to note that late/lack of payment will result in your child losing their place at Home from Home.

Cancellations:
No refunds will be given for non attendance.  Once a place has been booked, you will be expected to pay for it in advance.  A fine of £10 will be charged for collections after 5.00pm.  This is due to significant insurance costs.

Home From Home is part of Stoke Park Junior School.
