Design and Technology (DT)
At Stoke Park Junior School our vision is that through the teaching of Design and Technology (DT) our children will take an active role in the development of our rapidly changing world.
Children will begin to learn that DT is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using their creativity and imagination, pupils will have opportunities to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.
Through this children will realise the need to acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. The school's cookery room provides children the opportunity to develop their food technology skills and learn essential skills for life. Children will learn how to take risks and how to become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens.
Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, children will develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. Through high-quality teaching of design and technology it will enforce the importance of how education within Design and Technology makes an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the nation.
If you have any questions about the provision of DT at our school, please feel free to contact our DT Subject Leader, Mrs Rebecca Pratt.
