Achieving Excellence

French

Stoke Park Junior School consider that learning another language, in our case French, is a key aspect of your child’s education.

Language learning should be natural and learned through practice rather than too much theory. Their ear will get used to the sound, syntax and vocabulary of the French language provided that they are regularly exposed to it.’ Fluentu

We recognise that having the confidence to speak another language is key to successful learning so this plays an important part in our approach to their learning. We aim to make the learning fun by teaching them through rhymes, songs and interactive activities. Using the Rising Stars – Euro
Stars New Primary French scheme of work, we have produced very interactive and engaging lessons  for the children with animations, story boards, games and challenges.

We encourage the children to regularly have a go at speaking French, alongside working on their reading, writing and listening. ‘Un peu un jour’ – a little a day is our philosophy. The more they repeat, hear and use their language learning, the more it will progress.

In this section of our website you will find our whole school Curriculum Overview and skills progression document. You will also find a copy of our ‘A little a day’ PowerPoint, should you wish to continue your child’s French learning at home.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Kerry Passingham, our French Leader.
