Stoke Park Junior School considers that Music is a key aspect of your child’s education.
We aim to offer pupils a carefully planned programme covering the areas of playing and performing; improvising and composing; musical notation, listening and music appreciation. The programme is set within the expectations and in partnership with our local music hub (Hampshire Music Service) and the National Curriculum.
In this section of our website, you will find our whole school Curriculum Overview and accompanied skills.
Of course, Music is far more than something to be taught, it is about experience, enjoyment and confidence. At Stoke Park Junior School, we offer opportunities to learn, develop and explore through whole school, pyramid (Wyvern cluster school), County and National events. Past events have included The HMS Big Sing, Recorderamas, Orchestral days at Wyvern, Hampshire Vocal Festival, Singing at The Royal Albert Hall and our annual Carol Concert and Summer Concerts.
Every child will get the opportunity to learn both the recorder and the ukulele throughout their Stoke Park journey, taught by their class teachers. As well as this, we offer peripatetic teaching through Hampshire Music Service who offers a wide range of instruments including: keyboard, guitar, drums, woodwind and brass.
The link below will take you to some of our peripatetic music students in a performance that they put together for Christmas during the COVID pandemic.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Music Leader, Mrs Maddie Warburton.
