At Stoke Park Junior, we provide a Science curriculum which enables
pupils to explore and discover the world around them, so that they have a
deeper understanding of the world we live in. We do this through exciting,
first hand experiences, which ignite curiosity and deepen learning.
We endeavour to unlock pupils’ potential for future life choices and so STEM is
integral to our delivery of the Curriculum. Real-life examples are a fundamental
part of our approach. We carry out Longitudinal Studies within the school
grounds, to develop the scientific skills, knowledge and understanding the
children learn through behaving like scientists, carrying out continuous, long term
experiments and investigations. Using our extensive school grounds gives
numerous opportunities to do this.
We encourage pupils to be confident to ask questions, to seek to find answers
and to cultivate skills in hypothesising, testing and evaluating scientific ideas
using the appropriate vocabulary.
By providing these opportunities, we ensure that our children are motivated,
confident, life-long learners who will continue to explore the world around them,
way beyond their time of Primary education.
